LUCERNE / LAKE COUNTY — October 26, 2026. Lake County Behavioral Health Services is highlighting a statewide opportunity for culturally grounded behavioral-health prevention projects. The Community-Driven Behavioral Health Initiative makes $30 million available for awards of $400,000 to $1 million for qualifying applicants, with a deadline of 5 p.m. Friday, November 6, 2026.

Who may apply?

The county’s guidance identifies California-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit community organizations and Tribal entities as eligible applicant types. The initiative supports community-defined, culturally grounded practices including outreach, wellness education and population-level prevention. It is not a direct cash grant for individual residents and not a fund for clinical treatment services.

Who administers the grants?

Although Lake County is publicizing this opportunity, the official guidance explicitly says the California Institute for Behavioral Health Solutions and the California Department of Public Health — not Lake County Behavioral Health Services — will determine eligibility and make application decisions. Funds may support projects across California. The project period is scheduled for February 1, 2027 through April 30, 2029.

Application and information

Read the county’s detailed CDBHI information page for eligibility, the online application link and application support. An additional applicant office-hour session is scheduled for Thursday, November 5, from 11 a.m. to noon; registration is linked from the same source. Applicants can email CDBHI@cibhs.org with program questions.
